Writing

Mask.

To begin our journey together, I am pasting one of the first poems I ever wrote. It was freshman year, and although I think I have progressed, this is a good way to start off this blog.

I wear this mask

This mask, it is unseen

One which hides my hurt, my feelings, and my screams

Never will this mask

Come off my face

For if it did

There would be nothing I could say

I wear this mask

This mask helps me cope

With everything that happens

When I am alone

Somehow this mask,

Can never be untied

For if it did

Mouths would open wide

I wear this mask

This mask helps me see

All the things around

That slowly fall from me

This mask is very strong

It can never be broken

For if it did

All the hidden would be spoken

I wear this mask

This mask has taken over

It chooses my path

In which I walk over

This mask is imperious

It can not be told what to do

For if one did

It would stop hiding for you

Maybe one day this mask will fall away

Disintegrate into the air

In which I have been left astray
